How it works

Join our network. Start your practice.

Every practice has different needs.  In our e-book we will walk you through setting up your business, defining your scope, choosing an EMR, and reaching patients.

You will be added to the Physicians United malpractice insurance and be given a copy for your records. You are invited to engage with other physicians in our online community.

Why Choose Physicians United

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it cost to join? The cost is $5988/year. The insurance policy runs from November 1 to Oct 31. Enrollment is rolling monthly and lasts until the policy expired (Oct 31). The cost is prorated. Join on Dec 1 - $5489, Jan 1 - $4990, etc. Sept 1 is the final month of enrollment ($998), after which you must wait until Nov 1 to start with the new policy.

What about tail? We cover it for any patients seen while you were with Physicians United!

Which EMR should I use? This is up to you. We are happy to share our knowledge and for you to get recommendations from the group.

Can I bring my existing patients/practice? Yes you can! There are a few things the insurance does not cover, to the only exception would be if your practice involved these things. Both telemedicine and in-person practice are covered. Adults and children are covered.

What does the insurance NOT cover? Controlled substances (including phentermine), procedures, and surgeries. There are also limitations in physicians with suspensions, felonies, and actions taken against their license. Finally physicians living in the states of Kansas and Pennsylvania have specific stipulations. For specific questions/cases we will be happy to review the policy with you.

Do I have to be practicing from the US? No. As long as you are board-certified in the US and treating patients in the US states in which you are licensed, you may do so from anywhere. The complications/exceptions to this come from CMS (medicare and medicaid).

Can I accept insurance? Most of our doctors are cash-based (DPC). But there are ways to accept insurance (superbills, reimbursify). Your practice is your own, you decide.

Where do I get patients? This is the most challenging part of building your practice. You should expect it to take time to build up. We offer you suggestions, but ultimately it is up to you to find patients.

How soon can I start? It usually takes around 2 weeks to complete the paperwork and get approval. Enrollments begin on the 1st of each month.

How much should I charge for my services? This is up to you. We do endorse the use of a Direct Care model in which patients become members of your practice. This model provides physicians income stability, and patiens access to care. We are glad to discuss this model with you more fully.

Our Team

We are physicians and healthcare leaders who believe that the future of medicine hinges on the wellness of its doctors and the access patients have to physician-lead care.
